Life at Woodville Baptist Church follows the gentle rhythm of the seasons. Below are the gatherings, celebrations, and traditions that shape our year — many stretching back generations, all open to guests.
Each spring, we mark the return of warmer days with a special Sunday service followed by a potluck lunch on the church lawn. Members bring favourite dishes, guests bring hearty appetites, and everyone leaves better fed than they arrived.
Our summer VBS is one of the highlights of the church year. Kids from the community are welcomed for a week of songs, stories, crafts, and games centred on a different theme each summer.
In early October, we gather to give thanks for the harvest — a meaningful tradition in an agricultural community. The sanctuary is decorated with produce and grain, and the service focuses on gratitude for the earth's bounty and the hands that tend it.
On the Sunday nearest November 11, we pause to honour those who served and those who did not return. The service includes readings, a moment of silence, and reflection on peace, memory, and hope.
Each week of Advent, we light candles, sing carols, and prepare our hearts for Christmas. Our Christmas Eve service is a quiet, candlelit gathering that welcomes members, family, and neighbours who join us just once a year.
