Worship Services & Visiting
Everything you need to know before your first Sunday with us.
What to Expect on Sunday
If this is your first time joining us, welcome. Here is a simple walk-through of what a typical Sunday morning at Woodville Baptist Church looks like, so you can arrive knowing exactly what to expect.
Arrival & Parking
Free parking is available on the church grounds and along the quiet street out front. You will be greeted at the main entrance by one of our welcome team members who can point you toward seating, the coffee table, or the children's area if you have little ones with you.
Fellowship Time
Before the service begins, coffee, tea, and small refreshments are served in the foyer from around 10:30 AM. This is a relaxed time to meet a few people or simply enjoy the quiet — there is no expectation to introduce yourself or engage in more conversation than you are comfortable with.
The Worship Service
Our 11:00 AM service typically lasts about seventy-five minutes and includes:
- A welcome and call to worship — usually a scripture reading and a word of greeting.
- Congregational singing — a mix of beloved hymns and contemporary worship songs, led by our worship team.
- Prayer — for our congregation, our community, and the wider world.
- Scripture reading and message — a teaching from scripture that connects the ancient story to everyday life.
- Closing song and benediction — a blessing to send you into the week ahead.
Dress & Atmosphere
Come as you are. Some members dress up, most dress casually — no one will notice either way. What matters is your presence, not your presentation.
Children
Children are welcome at every part of our service. Sunday school for kids ages three through Grade 6 runs during the 10:00 AM hour, and children typically join their families in the sanctuary for worship at 11:00 AM. A quiet nursery space is available if needed.
Accessibility
Our main entrance is at ground level with no stairs. Accessible washrooms are available on the main floor. If you have specific accessibility needs, please feel free to contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate.
Communion
We celebrate the Lord's Supper (communion) on the first Sunday of each month. All who follow Jesus are welcome to participate; those who prefer to observe are equally welcome.
After the Service
Following the service, you are invited to linger in the foyer for coffee, conversation, and introductions if you wish. Our pastor and elders are usually available near the sanctuary doors — feel free to say hello or simply slip out. Both are perfectly fine.
